Rhymes and Reason for When the World Has None-
Carly uses poetry as a creative outlet and medium of emotional healing. She uses extended metaphors and word play to have fun with some of life’s most difficult and taboo topics to show others they aren’t alone. She has self-published two poetry collections under the pseudonym Belle Jar, originally for security due to an active criminal court case at the time of publishing. She has since come out publicly with her story, believing she should not be scared into being silent.
The Morning Regaining Her Glory
To call the Morning Regaining Her Glory a collection of poetry would simply be an understatment. It is a deeply personal narrative of events, feelings, and societal commentaries woven together to illustrate the physical and emotional aftermath faced by sexual-trauma survivors. Inspired by the 2018 sexual-assault suffered by the author while living overseas, it does not aim to shock the reader, nor to sugar-coat trauma. It does not seek to fire the readers' beliefs, but to challenge them. To open one's eyes while maintaining their rights to blink freely. The Morning Regaining Her Glory is one woman’s story of reclaiming her power, of attaining poetic justice at a time when legal institutions are prone to broken promises and broken scales. Though written through the lens of a survivor, the Morning Regaining Her Glory aspires to lend itself to readers of all backgrounds. It is a tale of recovery, self-discovery, and healing.
What People Are Saying
“The Morning Regaining Her Glory is a journey of so many emotions. The explicit, sophisticated, raw, and detailed storyline had me in chills. Everything the author is writing is palpable. Every line fell into place and even when least expected it would fall into rhyme in the most effortless way. Genius, from the themes to references to layout. This was definitely a storyline poetry book well done. And it’s relatable to basically every woman on the planet. There are no words to describe how “beautifully this was created from blood.” It’s an epic, a journey, and a piece of life that hopefully resonates with many readers now and to come. Bravo.”

“The poems in this book flow in a way that makes the story so relatable to (way too many) women. It's inspiring, comforting, and challenging all at once. I'd recommend this to anyone who's had a similar experience.”

“Human trauma creates a necessity to put words to feelings, and that's what this book achieves. While it's not therapy, it's therapeutic being able to read the words that match up so well to similar experiences. I found this book to be incredibly validating and offering a reprieve though there is a lot of heaviness and weight in the subject matter. Much like grief, assault can push waves of all sorts of emotions, over and over again. This book will continue to be a staple when I am feeling alone in my trauma and thoughts because it will remind me that I am in fact, not alone.”
